Manitoba Offers 2-Year Work Permit Lifeline to PNP Hopefuls

Manitoba is stepping up to support immigration hopefuls with expiring work permits. Beginning April 22, 2025, the province will accept applications for support letters under a temporary public policy aimed at providing two-year Manitoba-specific work permit extensions.

This update, announced on Manitoba’s official website, targets individuals whose permits expired in 2024 or are set to expire within the next 45 days.

This policy is a much-needed relief for applicants still waiting for their permanent residency under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), giving them more time to stay and work legally while their applications are being processed.

Who qualifies?
Applicants must be part of Manitoba’s PNP pool and meet specific criteria, including having previously held a work permit and demonstrating ties to the province.

Why it matters:
This move shows Manitoba’s commitment to retaining skilled workers and easing stress on applicants caught in federal processing delays.
