Claresholm Welcomes the World: New Immigration Pilot Launches to Fill Key Jobs.

On April 29, 2025, the Town of Claresholm officially launched the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP)—a federal immigration program designed to meet local labour demands while offering a pathway to permanent residency for skilled foreign workers.

Now accepting employer applications, this program marks a major milestone for Claresholm and surrounding communities, including Granum and Stavely. With just 30 coveted spots available for 2025, the race is on for eligible employers to become designated and begin shaping the future workforce of this thriving rural hub.

Who Can Apply Right Now?

👉 Employers—not job seekers—are the current focus. Businesses in designated sectors such as health care, manufacturing, education, agriculture, and a capped number in sales & service can apply for designation if hiring for one of the specified occupations.

👉 Candidates, you’ll need to wait until designated employers are announced. But this is a great time to prepare: update your resume, gather documents, and stay informed.

What Makes Claresholm's Program Unique?

  • A 25km radius around Claresholm includes Granum and Stavely.

  • RCIP uses a scoring system, prioritising industries facing critical shortages.

  • Employers can hire new international talent or support current foreign workers toward permanent residency.
