Important Update: Recent Fee Changes for Removal Expenses Starting April 1, 2025
As of April 1, 2025, there have been significant updates to Canada's removal expenses fees. These fees apply to individuals who have been removed from Canada and vary based on the circumstances surrounding their removal, as well as the date of removal.
What’s New in the Fee Structure?
Under the new guidelines, individuals who were removed before April 1, 2025, will continue to be charged the old fees. However, those who are removed after this date will see an increase in the cost of their removal, depending on the type of removal.
For Removals Before April 1, 2025:
U.S.A. and St. Pierre and Miquelon: $899.00
Any other country: $1,799.00
For Removals on or After April 1, 2025:
Escorted removal by air (except for medical escort): $12,880.00
Other removal types (unescorted, escorted by other means, medical escort by air): The fees may vary based on the specific nature of the removal.
Exemption for Minors:
It is important to note that if an individual was under 18 years old at the time a removal order was issued against them, they are exempt from repaying removal expenses, regardless of the date of their removal.
Why the Changes?
These changes to the removal expenses fees reflect the increasing costs of operating removal processes, including logistics, transportation, and security, especially for escorted removals.
