New PR Opportunity: Pictou County RCIP Now Open — Is This Your Pathway to Canada?

Canada continues to open new doors for skilled immigrants — and if you’ve been searching for a clear, employer-supported route to permanent residency (PR), the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) in Pictou County, Nova Scotia might be your golden ticket.

As a licensed immigration consultant, I help international professionals like you successfully navigate programs like this — from eligibility assessment to PR approval. Let’s break it down 👇

What Is the Pictou County RCIP?

RCIP is a community-driven immigration program designed to match international talent with local labour needs in smaller Canadian communities.

Pictou County — one of only 18 Canadian regions selected for this federal pilot — is now accepting employer designation applications and preparing to begin its first round of candidate recommendations on July 2, 2025.

Once an employer is designated, they can offer jobs to international candidates — and those job offers can lead to permanent residency under the RCIP.

Eligible Sectors & Jobs (2025 Priority List)

Some of the top in-demand occupations include:

  • Tech: Software developers, cybersecurity specialists, data scientists

  • Trades: Carpenters, plumbers, mechanics, drywallers

  • Healthcare: Pharmacists, pharmacy techs, assistants

  • Skilled labour: Machine operators, printing press operators

  • Hospitality/Retail: Restaurant managers, cooks, sales supervisors (capped)

Note: These positions must be full-time, non-seasonal, and permanent.
